Experimentation: Photoshopping bruises

Photoshop bruise 2.jpg

As I chose to do Domestic Abuse for my FMP, I decided to try and use photoshop to try and add some special effects to the images to add a bit more of an impact to it.

At first it was obvious the bruise was fake, I wanted to make it seem a little more believable. I could clearly see the bruise was too dark and circular so I tried to fix that.

In my second attempt I was able to make it seem a lot more realistic. I used the liquify tool to give the eye that swollen look to it, helping it with that believability.

On my third and final attempt, the colours scheme seemed great however it once again looked too circular taking away the realism from it.

Tom Hussey Experimentation

I had seen some of Tom Hussey’s pieces and had an idea to use a mirror in order to create a powerful impact. Originally I was going to try and use the cloning technique he uses but I quite liked the outcome of these images, the first image I had taken had a few mistakes for example, I had forgotten to add the bruised effect to the reflection of her eye in the left hand mirror and the liquified eye effect made the eye look very distorted – plus the bruise itself was a little bit too light.

So I re-edited it to make the bruise a little more defined and corrected my previous error with the other mirror.

Joyful Foundation Experimentation

Untitled-5.jpg

After doing research on the Joyful Heart Foundation, I wanted to make a series of posters however I knew it would then be relying heavily on the graphic side of things rather than the photography side.

I still wanted to give it an attempt in hopes that I like the outcome, which I did however I stand corrected as it does focus mainly on the text to give the image some context. Of course, that is the purpose of the text on a poster to give information about the topic.

So, I continued doing some experimentations trying out some different ways of using similar techniques to get my point across.
